If you're using an old computer, use the gold star iMovie, not the purple star. Can't find it? Ask me.
Watch each point before you make your cuts. You can't edit a video when you have no idea what's in it. Figure out who serves, how many times they volley back and forth, and who makes the mistake that earns the other team a point.
Don't start in the middle of a zoom. The image should always begin from a place of stillness, or in the case of a volleyball match, as still as you can get. The golden rule is this: If the lens is pushing in, the shot has not yet begun. If it's pulling out, I'm setting up the next one.
Edit out the boring. Keep us focused on the action by getting rid of many times when the server bounces the ball before bashing it over the net. Short, action oriented shots keep us excited.
Show the scoreboard whenever you can. My zooms in and out were fast, so you might need to Control Click, then Add Freeze Frame to get a good shot. If they're blurry, take your still from another part of the clip.
Use crowd shots. I only got one, since the cheerleaders were on the other side of the court, but use it and let me know if it's good or not. Use as your opening shot, or use it in the middle. Your call.
We need high-energy music. Incompetech is your friend. Don't totally turn your audio down, though. Crowd sound is really engaging, and volleyball is the loudest sport I know. Let's hear some of that craziness. Here's how to find it, and credit it, too.
